Today’s focus for 30 Days of thanks is Grace. It’s a word we use a lot, maybe too much. Not because grace is a bad thing, but because I think when we overuse a word it can become routine for us.
And let me say, there is nothing routine about grace.
One of the things I love most about grace is the fact that I don’t have to live a perfect life to try to earn my way to God. Have you ever stopped to think about how difficult that would be? All you have to do is make one mistake, and you’re toast.
Even a stupid mistake would land you judgement.
Something like going one mile over the speed-limit. Boom – Judgement!
Telling a lie about someone because you don’t want to hurt their feelings. Boom – Judgement!
Being disrespectful to your parents. Boom – Judgement!
But, we don’t live like that. We do not have a list of requirements we have to fulfill to earn our seat at the great banquet. The one requirement? Believe in Jesus’ and His atoning working on the cross.
So, when you make that stupid little mistake today and realize that you don’t have to fret because you are covered by God’s grace, stop for a moment to be thankful. Because – that’s amazing!
