“Help Me Help” is a food drive like no other. It’s a turkey drive. We are trying to gather 500 turkeys to help families have a wonderful Thanksgiving this year.
This year, we are hoping that groups of people will work together to provide 5 turkeys. It’s fun to provide a turkey by yourself, but it’s even more fun to do it with others! We need 85 groups of 5 turkeys to be able to provide a turkey for everyone who comes through the SixEight Food Pantry the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Will you consider being one of those groups?
Below you will find a sample letter to send to your friends as you work together to provide 5 turkeys!
I am trying to do something, and the truth is I don’t think I can do it without you. Let me explain.
I want to help give some families in our community a great Thanksgiving this year. I don’t know if you know this, but there are a lot of families in our community that don’t have much of a Thanksgiving celebration, simply because they can’t afford it. I didn’t really think much about it, but now that I know I want to help.
If you’re like me, you know of a lot of people who need help. And it’s easy for me to be overwhelmed, because there’s so little I can do to make a difference. I don’t have the means to do much, so I don’t. And instead of doing what I can with what I do have, I don’t do anything because I don’t know where to start. But, I have found a way to do something that I am able to do.
There is a place in town that is trying to make sure people have a turkey as a part of their Thanksgiving celebration this year. It’s the SixEight Food Pantry at SixEight Church. They feed people every week through the pantry, and they are trying to collect enough turkeys to make sure everyone who comes to get food the Tuesday before Thanksgiving will also get a turkey.
It’s a lot of turkey. Last year they passed on 263 turkeys. This year, they are anticipating 500. 500 turkeys is a lot of turkeys. That’s why I’m asking you to help me help.
Will you partner with me in providing 5 turkeys for 5 families to have turkey as a part of their Thanksgiving celebration? I’m going to provide one of the turkeys, so I’m looking for 4 people who will commit to providing a turkey. Will you help me help? The cost of 5 turkeys will run from $100 – $125. So, we can just come up with the money. Or, if you want, we can go get buy the turkeys together and drop them off at SixEight. Either way would be fun. If you want to provide more, you can, but will you help me cover at least one turkey?
They need to have the turkeys by November 23rd, which gives us a little bit of time. But, not a ton of time and they need tons of turkey. Literally. Last year they handed out 1.68 tons. This year, they’re anticipating handing out 3 tons of turkey.
So, I need 4 people. Will you help me help? We have so much to be thankful, let’s be a part of someone else’s reasons to be thankful!
Thanks for helping me help make a difference this Thanksgiving!
If you want to commit, will you let us know that you are doing so? (By the way, thank you in advance!) Send us a message: (Click here to go to our contact page.)
“I’d like to help, but I just don’t have the time to get people together to do so. What can I do?” You can buy a turkey, or make a tax deductible donation, and we’ll go get it for you. If you want to donate, you can click here. Just make sure to select Tons of Turkey in the drop down box to the right of the amount.
If you can’t do either of those things, another fantastic way to help is by simply sharing this post. Would you consider sharing this post on Facebook or tweeting out a link to this post?
Thanks for joining our effort to give people a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! Thanks for being awesome!
