Monday Morning Mission – Invest & Invite – “This Week”

Categories: 8 to 15,Blog,Featured,Monday Morning Mission

On Sunday, we finished up the 8 to 15 series. In the series we highlighted the three aspects of reaching new people to become Kingdom Warriors.

Those three aspects are:

  1. Love them as God loves them.
  2. Pray & Expect (Pray for them daily by name and expect God to create opportunities for you to be the light of God’s love to them).
  3. Invest & Invite (By loving them when God creates the opportunity, you will be investing in your relationship with them. Then you’ll be able to invite them to church or to Christ – if you’re bold enough.)

One of the small changes we discussed about the way we invite someone is to add the qualifier “this week.” When you invite someone to church without adding that qualifier, it can make it awkward to ask again. If you ask someone “Do you want to go to church with me?” And they say no, then it can be hard to work up the courage to ask them again because they said no. But, if you ask them “Do you want to go to church with me this week?” you can come back week after week and ask them again. Because when they’re saying no, they’re just saying no to this week’s invitation.

This final aspect of 8 to 15 is where all the rest of 8 to 15 comes together. You have to have people on your list to pray for. If you don’t, then you need to start there. Who are the 8 to 15 people God has put in your life for you to reach for His kingdom? Who are the family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, sales clerks, etc. that God has put in your life for you to reach? List them on your card (if you don’t have one, stop by the church office and get one.)

Then, pray for them by name each day. Pray “Father, would you send your spirit to work in ______’s heart. Draw them to Jesus and make them a Kingdom warrior.” Pray that for each person on your list every day. Then expect God to create opportunities to be the light of God’s love to them.

To be the light of God’s love, we have to be attached to the vine which is Jesus. So that the work the gardener does (the Father) can flow through the vine and through our lives to produce kingdom fruit.

Finally, as we pray for our 8 to 15 and expect God to create opportunities to be the light of God’s love to them, we invest in our relationship with them and invite them to church.

List your 8 to 15.

Pray and Expect.

Invest and Invite.

It really is that simple. It takes time, but it does work and it is that simple. Don’t believe me? Give it a try and prove me wrong!

This is how we can be the church outside the walls of our building. If we do this, we can join with the early church and be able to see people added to God’s kingdom every day!
