Remember Last Sunday?

Were you there on Sunday? If not, you missed an awesome celebration! It was so awesome to get to celebrate with a couple of guys as they made their public proclamation of faith in Jesus.

However, I want to make sure we all know something. I said it on Sunday, but it’s something I will say again and again. That image of baptism is one I hope sticks in our mind for a long time. The reason is, that’s the vision for us as a church.

Jesus told us to “go into all the world and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.” That’s the picture. That’s the image. That’s the vision. That’s the dream. And i only hope that what we saw on Sunday was an appetizer in comparison to what God has in store for us.

And I believe He does.

Do you want to know why I believe God has a lot more baptisms in our future? It’s because I believe in you! And, I don’t just believe in you because I’m a motivator. I believe in you because I’m starting to hear about how some of you are working on you 8 to 15. And as you do that, it will only be a matter of time before we get to see more and more people take that step.

This weekend is a great opportunity for you when it comes to your 8 to 15. There are two great opportunities for you to invite one of those you’ve been praying, expecting and investing in over the past few weeks.

First, you could bring them to the Block Party. There’s going to be a lot of fun stuff. Especially for those who have kids. There will be bounce houses, games and prizes, balloon artists and more. And for everyone, there’s going to be other community focused booths, free food and music. It’s a great chance to get someone on the church grounds without them going “to church.”

Second, you could bring them on Sunday when we start our new series, Sun Stand Still. (It’ll also be our first Sunday as SixEight Church!) This series is going to be a very practical and encouraging series. We’re going to talk about those things that are impossible in our lives, that situation we’re facing, that mountain we have to climb that seems insurmountable. And we’re going to talk about how God wants us to conquer it.

Wasn’t last Sunday amazing? Wouldn’t it be amazing to do that every Sunday? I’d love to do that! We’ll do whatever it takes to be able to reach someone for Christ. I hope you will too. Because I want to see so much more of what we saw. I don’t want that to be a one time thing. In fact, I want that to be a regular occurrence in our worship services. I’d rather have more Sundays with baptisms than Sundays without them.

How do we get there? How do we get to the place where we can see Baptisms every week? We get there when every one of us are intentionally being the light to our 8 to 15. That’s our Jerusalem. That’s the first place God wants us to be the Light of His love. That’s priority numero uno. As we do that, as we pray for them by name and expect God to create opportunities for us to invest in a relationship with them, we will find ourselves with more and more people getting baptized.

Don’t you want to go to there? I know I do! Let’s go there together, and let’s start that journey this weekend! Pray. Expect. Invest. Invite.
