Sermon Recap:

In today’s sermon we talked about the many things that can distract us from the one thing. It’s so easy to get distracted with all the things going on around us, to get caught up living in the periphery instead of focusing our lives around the one thing, Jesus.

The One Thing – Jesus

Luke 10:38-42

38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.

I am blessed to be able to serve SixEight as the Lead Pastor. As a pastor, my first aim is to follow God, my primary ministry is to my wife and 4 kids. They are amazing! When it comes to our church family, I get the pleasure of leading our church to follow God. This is truly a gift that God has given to our family, and we are honored and humbled to serve Him in this capacity at SixEight!

There are so many things in life that pull us in many different directions. It is easy to feel lost, confused, alone, stressed out, or out of control. The realization that I can center everything around this loving, patient and forgiving God and everything in my life finds its proper place. This reduces my stress, increases my sense of purpose and allows me a greater ability to enjoy the people I meet and the things that happen. That includes the difficult people and the unpleasant events, because God’s involvement in my life puts them all in the right perspective.
