When the criminal asks Jesus to remember him, he anchors his hope in Jesus’ βασιλεία (bah-see-LEE-ah)—His kingdom.

“My future isn’t in Rome’s hands. It isn’t in the crowd’s hands. It isn’t in my past.
My future is in Your kingdom.”

If you’ve ever tried to build your life on your own competence, your own outcomes, your own version of control… you know how fragile that kingdom is. It dries out quickly.

Jesus’ kingdom never does.

It doesn’t depend on human approval.
It doesn’t crumble under pressure.
It doesn’t dry out when the world does.

Today, notice where you’re placing your hope.
If your kingdom feels shaky—Jesus’ kingdom is already open to you.

Reflection Questions

  1. What “kingdom” have you been trying to build by your own strength?
  2. Where would you feel more peace if you entrusted that space to Jesus?

Prayer:
King Jesus, let Your kingdom come into the parts of my life that feel shaky or self-built. Help me release control and find peace in Your reign, not my own efforts.
