Scripture: Genesis 15:5–6 (NIV)
“He took him outside and said, ‘Look up at the sky and count the stars…’ Abram believed the Lord…”

Abraham knew what disappointment felt like. He knew what it meant to stare at an empty place and wonder if God’s promise was ever going to come through. He knew the tension between what God had said and what life looked like.

So God invited him outside.
God lifted his chin.
God told him to look up.

Count the stars.
Not because Abram could actually count them, but because God wanted him to feel the scale of His promise. Hope expands when we see beyond what our eyes can measure.

Abraham believed—not because his circumstances improved, but because he trusted the character of the One who spoke. Faith was not rooted in the size of Abram’s family, but in the size of God’s faithfulness.

Sometimes God invites us outside the boundaries of what we can see. Away from the fear that loops in our minds. Away from the limitations we place on ourselves. Away from the belief that God works only within the small places we think are possible.

Hope lifts our gaze. It reminds us that God’s promises are bigger, wider, and deeper than our current understanding. It calls us to trust even when life feels barren.

Today, allow God to lift your chin. Let Him remind you that His promises are not fragile. They are as steady as the stars He hung in the sky—and He keeps every one.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Where do you feel “barren” or stuck right now?
  2. What promise of God do you need to look up and remember today?

Closing Prayer:
Lord, lift my eyes today. Help me see beyond my circumstances and trust that Your promises stand firm. Grow hope in me that rests on Your faithfulness alone. Amen.
