There’s a particular kind of discomfort that comes when God feels quiet. Not absent—just quiet. No clear nudge. No obvious next step. No reassuring sense that we’re doing this “right.”
Most of us don’t respond to that silence by stopping our faith altogether. Instead, we start managing. We make contingency plans. We move pieces around. We convince ourselves we’re being responsible, when underneath it all we’re really just uncomfortable waiting.
The Christmas story reminds us that God’s silence is not neglect. Often, it’s an invitation. God doesn’t always give explanations, but He does give presence. He marks a path forward even when the destination isn’t clear.
Faith isn’t proven by how confidently we move—it’s revealed by whether we keep walking when clarity is missing.
Reflection Questions:
- Where do you feel God has been quiet lately?
- What is your usual response when clarity doesn’t come right away?
Prayer:
God, when You feel quiet, help me resist the urge to rush ahead. Teach me to trust Your presence even when I don’t have answers. Walk with me today. Amen.
