There are not enough adjectives to describe the depth and wonder of this day. So I’m not going to even try.
All I propose to you is this simple reminder: that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. While we were doing that stupid thing, Christ died in our place. Before we existed, before we could pretend to understand, before we could ruin everything with religious acts, Christ died for us.
Today, remember that Christ died for you knowing full well the worst you would ever do. Christ died for you knowing exactly the kind of person you would be.
At your worst, Christ offered the best. Christ did what we couldn’t do for ourselves.
That’s what makes this day so good.
