Today is the second day of our Pray Through Pentecost. If you want to know more about what we’re doing, you can view all the posts in this series by clicking here, or you can listen to yesterday’s talk. For today, I just want to get us started off with the framework we will use for this time.

We will be praying three times a day – Morning, Afternoon and Evening. No specific time, just three times a day. And during each of those times of prayer we’re going to be praying through the following things:

Now to Next Prayer

What do we need to do now as a church to be ready for what God has for us next. This is a prayer for our church as a whole and for the leadership of our church. We are seeking God during this time because we want Him to shine a light on the path we should walk on. We want God to lead us and guide us in the right direction. We don’t necessarily think God is going to give us the whole 10 year plan, but we are seeking God to give us the first few steps.

What’s My Role Prayer

The next part of our prayer time we are going to focus on our role in that mission that God gives us. Whatever it is that God has for us, we also believe that God has a role for every member of our body to play. So, while we’re praying for God to show our church the path we are to walk, we also need to be praying for God to show us the role we will play individually in accomplishing that mission.

The Conclusion

Then, as we all conclude our prayers, we’re going to all conclude them with this prayer below that Paul prayed for the Ephesians. If you want to know more about why we’re praying this prayer, I would encourage you to listen to yesterday’s talk to hear a more in-depth explanation.

Ephesians 3:14-21

14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

So, will you join us in this? It doesn’t need to be a long prayer time – you don’t need to feel like you have to spend an hour each time. Just a few minutes, but will dedicate yourself to praying these prayers three times a day with our church? You don’t even need to go to our church to be a part of this. Maybe you don’t live close enough to to come, but that doesn’t mean that God doesn’t want you to play a part. So, no matter where you are – if you’re reading this – will you join us for the next 33 days?
